The story behind the shirt

Worn during the season in which Napoli played in Serie C1, this season marked a radical new beginning for the club. After the takeover by Aurelio De Laurentiis, a completely new team was assembled in just two weeks, with only a few players remaining from the previous season. Under the guidance of Gian Piero Ventura and later Edoardo Reja, the team finished third and lost in the playoff finals against Avellino. Roberto Sosa was the top scorer with eight goals. Napoli broke the Serie C attendance record with 51,000 spectators at a single match.
