The story behind the shirt

FC Basel 1893 shaped the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons with great consistency at the top of Swiss football. In the 2015/16 season, the club won the Swiss Super League with 83 points from 36 games and a goal difference of +50. Marc Janko scored the most goals with 16, while Matías Delgado stood out with 11 goals and 12 assists, as did Luca Zuffi with 12 assists. Breel Embolo also contributed significantly with 10 goals and 7 assists. In Europe, Basel reached the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League, where they were eliminated by Sevilla. In the 2016/17 season under coach Urs Fischer, Basel won the Super League title again. Seydou Doumbia scored 20 goals in the league as well as 21 goals in the Swiss Cup. In the UEFA Champions League, Basel faced Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal, finishing the group stage with 2 points from 6 games.
