Uruguay

La Celeste - that's the nickname of the Uruguayan national football team, named after the characteristic sky blue shirts. Uruguay is one of the most successful football nations in history: two-time world champions (1930 and 1950), fifteen-time South American champions as well as Olympic champions in 1924 and 1928. The years 1924 to 1930 in particular left a lasting mark on world football. The Estadio Centenario in Montevideo serves as their home ground. The record appearance holder is Diego Godín with 161 international caps, and the record goalscorer is Luis Suárez with 68 goals.
